There were some dubious looking bananas in the fruit bowl so banana bread was duly made. Jasper loves cooking. He stepped up to the challenge of pulverising the bananas no problem. By the way do you know what a Textsurfer Classic is? Answer at the end of the post.
This is a great recipe:-
6 oz sugar
3 mashed bananas
8 oz self raising flour
1/2 teaspoon each of salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla essence and bicarbonate of soda
Cream butter and sugar.
Beat in eggs one at a time.
Stir in mashed bananas.
Sift flour, salt and spices in to mixture.
Fold in gently.
Add vanilla essence and bicarbonate of soda.
Line a 1 lb loaf tin or a large spring based cake tin.
Spoon in mixture.
Bake for 50 ish mins at 180oC.
This cake platter is in fact a beautiful pottery bird table that I bought from the Brighton Art Festival in May. Although it was made for the garden I never intended to put it out there as I think it makes a great cake plate!
A Textsurfer Classic = fluorescent highlighter! Don't you just love marketing!
PS Had a fantastic time on my course yesterday. I will blog pictures tomorrow as I want to take some lovely photographs of the seven (yes seven - yippeee - only supposed to make two - sorry Paula!) items that I made. Skyla was off ill today so we have been reading books together, writing and drawing about Autumn and even did a bit of sewing. I don't think illness has to be limited to staying in bedrooms doing nothing.
