Today has yet again been grey but I realised, with great joy, that when you blog you have to look for the good in every day. It is Skyla and Jasper's last day of the holidays and we have just had a day pottering around at home - something we never really do when Pasha is around. We always go out. Skyla asked to play with this lovely old cooking set that I bought on ebay a while ago. I have deliberately bought some old fashioned toys to keep in a thrifted cupboard that I have decorated. I call it our rainy day cupboard. I think I will do a proper blog about it sometime as it has some very interesting contents.
As you can see it is tiny. Under the kettle there is a little space that if you had a fuel tablet you can actually heat up a tiny kettle of water. I dont think it quite comes up to EU standards!
Families are all about compromise so we agreed this afternoon when baking a cake that because both chocolate and vanilla cake was wanted that we would do this!
Once cooked, everyone had a slice with icing on the side as it was too warm to be iced. I didn't use my brain though and once iced all over with vanilla icing you can't tell which bit is which - doh!
In the picture too is a lovely new candle that is made from natural wax. I am trying to convert to only natural wax candles as I am sure all other ones are not that good for us - chemical wise. I love candles though and we always have candlelit tea in the winter. I am debating whether to have a stove fitted in the lounge as I love real fires too. I can't decide though as I don't want the winter wind whipping down the chimney and we are really battered by the elements here as we are right on the seafront. In the meantime I will make do with my candles and fairylights.
